Wind turbines

Basic part of every wind operated system is wind power turbine. Wind power turbines consists of the wind turbine and generator. Wind turbine is under impact of force incurred by wind operating, spins and produces mechanic energy. The turbine is physical integrated in unit with generator which converts mechanical energy of turbine into electric energy. The output voltage of generator is AC and variable amount relating to revolution per minute of the turbine.

The force which spins the turbine, is same force that lifts the airplane and by that provide flight. Because of that turbine blades profiles and wings of the airplane are very similarly. For designing of the wind turbine and also airplanes, majestic knowing of the aerodinamics is essential. Designers of the wind turbines mostly comes from airplane industry (Karl Bergey has designed airplane type Piper Cherokee - the most selling airplane in the USA).

Although all modern "small" wind generators are very simple (they have only few moving parts), development and production are very demanding. Beside knowledge and experience, it is necessary to provide conditions for testing(use of aerodinamic tunnels and special software) and acces to special, hard get (strategic) materials. During operate wind generator suffer great mechanical stress (hits of orcanic wind, unbalanced load because of ice, etc..)

In comparation of different wind generators, the most important is to define the amount of energy which will wind generator produce during their lifetime. The estimate is much harder because of big number of factors. It is recomended to search independent expert opinion and compare realised systems by manufacturer and offerer.
